| | Dear Lyme Community,
We want to bring to your attention an incredible project that was recently completed in our wonderful town. The Lyme Nursery School, which for 41 years was located in the Lyme Congregational Church, has
completed it's quest to build a new home. The new site for the nursery school is on Route 10 south of Lyme and just south of the Nichols Tree Farm, where the old Wilmot trailer is located.
The nursery school, started in 1964 by Abbie Penfield, was brought back to life as a cooperative in 1971. Almost 700 children have come through our doors over the decades. We are grateful for the generosity of the church and for the many years the school was located there. However, over time the school has grown to the point of needing a new home.
The new building is designed to look like a one-room schoolhouse, bell and all, which will fit aesthetically into our little town. The school will provide a bright and cheery environment for our preschool children to learn and grow. As it has for the past several years, the nursery school will offer an after-kindergarten program in addition to its programs for three- and four-year olds. With the new building, we will be able to explore offering an after-school program as well.
This ambitious project
was possible because of many dedicated volunteers. Many businesses and individuals from Lyme and the Upper Valley have already contributed to our cause.
The final goal of $158,000 can be achieved if everyone in the Lyme community, especially parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and friends of our alumni, will consider a gift to this very valuable project. Your gift will provide current and future generations of children living in Lyme with a warm and inviting place to expand their creativity and imagination.
Your tax deductible gift for any amount mailed to the Lyme Nursery School, P.O. Box 91, Lyme, NH 03768 will be gratefully received and will help assure the success of this special project.
Thank you,
LNS Board and Staff: Julie McCutcheon, Kate Cook, Michelle Couture, Denby Coyle, Kelly Downing,
Heidi Nichols, Michelle Lingiardi, Barbara Lynch, J.J. Pippin and Mimi Lichtenstein
